The final score of this game does not do justice to the closeness of play during the 80 minutes. With Cary still suffering from injuries to a large number of its players, they struggled to assemble a team for this game, but were saved at the last minute by players from Milborne Port volunteering to ensure the match went ahead. Stothert turned out a well-aired, experienced team — which became evident in the first half — with their full backs responsible for setting up the plays that penetrated Cary's defence. Our only try was scored by scrum-half Dave Nash. After the game, Steve Armson said: "It was a hard game with a lot of bruising forward work. I would particularly like to thank Alan Hemsworth who came out of retirement to play for us and who played a storming game. It is good to see younger members of the team gaining experience from players like Alan." by James Travers
