Despite numerous injuries affecting the Cary squad, they managed to perform constructively in all aspects. Cary had to defend for most of the game, making Chard fight hard for their points. The latter only penetrated the former's defence three times, yet this was still an encouraging performance from a young Cary side. The only home try came from a quick tap penalty: Tony Reynolds drew the Chard defence to gift Paul Hills with an easy run-in under the posts. Notable performances came from Cary's inspirational captain, Paul Hills, and the right wing, Jamie Smith. by James Travers
