A game of two very different halves, Cary dominated for the first 40 minutes, with the score at half-time 0–14 in the visitors' favour. Points were earned by two players marking their debut performances for Cary — Tom Newth touching down an unconverted try and Man of the Match Brendan Hickman securing three penalties. The second half saw the hosts up their game, and despite Cary maintaining their lead for the majority of the match, a try and penalty from Wiveliscombe in the closing minutes of play were sufficient for them to claim the valuable league points. Cary were bitterly disappointed with the defeat but look forward to facing Wiveliscombe and other league rivals at home in the New Year. by Rosie Meek
