The first game for the 2nds this season saw Cary struggling to find a side. Helped out by Wincanton RFC meant Cary travelling with 14 players. A slow start by Cary saw Wells' three-quarters racking up a total of 51 points in the first half and a few injuries to the Cary players saw the hosts lending out some of their own players to make up the numbers. The second half saw a Cary pack with something to prove. A great kick from Robert Todd saw Cary down into the Wells 22. Wells missed the opportunity to secure the ball and Cary had a 5-metre scrum. A massive shove by the pack saw Cary drive Wells back to the dead ball line and No. 8, John Roper, touched the ball down for a try. Steve Hoskins slotted the conversion through the posts. Cary continued their pressure in the forwards and this saw Wells opting for lineouts instead of scrummaging. Cary failed to capitalise in a few opportunities as Wells ran over a few more tries in the last ten minutes for a final score of 80–7. Jon Belcher, 2nd team captain, said, "I would like to thank all those who played, especially those who travelled from Wincanton: Darren French, Robert Todd, Charles Spencer, Luke Thorne and Steve Hoskins." Two Man of the Match awards were made: Nick Heath (9) and Steve Hoskins (12). by Rosie Meek
