Cary started in a controlled and drilled manner. The forwards were enjoying open play with excellent exchanges between the back row and the three-quarters. Tony Reynolds opened the scoring account early in the game with a try under the posts. This fashion continued for the remainder of the first half, with fast, open play from the forwards enabling the backs to run in a further five tries. By half-time, confidence was high — yet Cary struggled to set up a platform. However, with the constant pressure that Cary exerted they were eventually rewarded with a further two tries. Under this relentless onslaught North Dorset crumbled, enabling Gareth Watts to run in his debut try for the 1st Xv Notable performances came from the slick running of Cary's second row pair, James Atkins and Sean Dixon, whose combined effort was responsible for providing the backs with the essential platform from which to work. by Paul Hills
