Cary put up a valiant effort in what was to prove a hard and fast game, played on an pitch that was fast turning to mud — making conditions difficult under foot. At the half time whistle, the home team were leading by only 19 points. Unfortunately, in the second half Cary failed to put more points on the board: the more experienced Wells team were increasing the pressure and forcing Cary into defensive play. Cary's try came from a penalty in the Wells 22, quickly taken by the scrum-half Dave Nash and driven over the line by captain, Steve Armson. A special mention to Dan Jeffies for his outstanding tackling and also showing no hesitation in taking on opposition players that were twice his size. by James Travers
