With the late arrival of some of the Petherton players, kick-off was delayed. Cary lost the toss and were playing uphill. However the wind and sun were on their side, which was used to full effect with Freddie Loxton keeping in the wing to score in the corner in the opening minutes of play. Using the elements again, Cary forced Petherton back to score through open-side flanker Clive Sefia in good support of the centres. Petherton scored just before half-time to lift their spirits, but to no avail as after the break, apart from a five-minute lapse from the home team, Cary put in what coach Jon Thomas described as "a dazzling performance", with further tries from Dave Nash, James Cox, Simon Hunt (2), Clive Sefia, Matt Hollyfield, and Nick Gibbons. Of worthy mention was Gareth Watts, who successfully dodged several Petherton players, running half the length of the pitch in order to touch down. Ben Snook contributed four conversions to secure a comfortable win for Cary. Men of the Match were Clive Sefia, Matt Hollyfield and Dave Nash. by Rosie Meek
