Castle Cary travelled away to Ivel, where the weather posed a problem with driving wind and rain. In the first half Cary played into the wind and Ivel managed to score two tries, leaving a half-time score of 10–0 to the hosts. Deven Waine opened the second half for Cary with two consecutive tries with Chris Wake converting the latter, resulting in a 10–12 lead to Cary. However, with under ten minutes to go, Ivel managed to break down the Cary defence in the final minutes of the game, leaving the visitors insufficient time to pull the game back. Coach Steve Armson testified that this was "an excellent game which Cary were unfortunate to lose".

Fifteen under 11s travelled to Cheddar eager for their first game of the season. Cheddar had a mixture of 11s, 12s and a few 13s. The first half was hard fought with Cheddar scoring the first two tries, despite ruthless tackling from Cary. However, the visitors stuck to their guns and managed to even out the score with tries from Phil Wake and Max Nott-Bower. For the second half, Cheddar brought on some of their older players (both boys and girls), testing Cary to the full. Three tries were scored without reply from Cary. Cheddar then replaced some of the older players, leaving Cary to score the final try of a hard match. "Points to be proud of were the scrimmage, line-outs and tackling," said Coach Paul Lester-Hinchliffe. "For his part in all of these aspects and for his general play, Jack Bloss was awarded Man of the Match. Points we need to work on are passing in general, along with rucking and clearing out. All in all a good start."
UNDER 10s
Cary's superior tackling put Cheddar on the back foot, although rucking from Cheddar was much better than Cary's, thus denying the visitors more points. Quick hands and faster legs from Cary saw them score first with Cheddar swift to follow. Charles Proud drove over from 5 metres out to put the score at 5–10 to Cary. Cheddar put a last-ditch effort in, and were denied a try following a tackle by Jack Clothier to seal the game for Cary. Men of the Match were Liam Atkins and Jack Clothier.
UNDER 9s
Cary played against mostly under 10s and did superbly, all tackling with commitment. The performances of all players were worthy of a mention.
UNDER 8s
The boys played often as an organised unit: defence was good but attack was spectacular. The referee was firm but fair, and ensured that the well-supported game was free-flowing and enjoyable for all. No single player could be identified as significantly better than the others, possibly an indication of the positive team-based effort made by all. Try scorers were Josh Lewis, Asher knight, Tom Potter, Hadyn Watts, Harry Biffulco, Matthew Suri, Toby Crabb and Jonathan Ellis (marking his first game as captain).
UNDER 7s
A good turn-out for the first game of the season. Play was well drilled, passing was spot on and players were very well supported. Tagging was excellent. Coach Alastair Cook was very happy with the turnout, confirming that "no player could be singled out as they all played very well".
