UNDER 11s
A bright sunny day at Ivel was the venue for the last game of the season for Cary. With Edward Levett as captain, the first half saw Cary play down the significant slope on a dry, hard pitch. From the outset both sides were out to win and a free flowing, fully committed game ensued. The teams took part in some excellent passages of play with Ivel defending well and frequently breaking out from their half in attack.

After several attempts, Cary mounted an attack started by a dominant scrum on the half-way line. After various phases that found the Ivel try line under pressure, James Voysey forced his way over it to finish off a well deserved try for Cary, which Joey Lester-Hinchliffe converted. Despite best efforts by Cary, Ivel managed to defend their line up to half-time.

The second half was a mirror image of the first. Playing uphill, Cary had to contend with a rejuvenated Ivel and the pace of the game was relentless in the heat, with many of the players were working extremely hard. None more so than Phillip Wake, Cary's Man of the Match, who made many telling runs out of defence to relieve the pressure off the Cary line. Cary full back Joey Lester-Hinchliffe also used his left boot several times to subdue a determined Ivel attack.

Although the whole Cary team were fully committed to defending their line, consistent Ivel pressure paid off with a converted try to bring the scores level. For the remaining five minutes of play both sides had their moments, with nobody willing to give any quarter.

All who watched the game were impressed with the standard of rugby played by all and with both sides deserving to take something from the game, a draw was probably a fair result.

UNDER 9s
For the last game of the season Castle Cary had a great turnout with 17 players. From the start on a hot day Cary battled hard in the rucks and mauls, defending superbly with every single player tackling well and being led from the front. Some particularly stunning tackles were made by Angus Davis, who was voted Man of the Match.
