Cary's hopes of scoring valuable league points were dashed as North Petherton scored two successive tries in the first ten minutes of play, one of which was converted. The score remained at 12–0 until half time. The visitors picked up the pace after the break, with Clive Sefia scoring and Ben Snook adding the conversion. With kicking playing a major part of the game both teams had a lot of running to do chasing balls. North Petherton scored for a breakthrough to bring the score to 19–7. However, Cary responded well as Andy Palmer (a late but very welcome inclusion) secured a try. Ben Snook added another conversion to bring the score to 19–14. On the final whistle Sefia received a red card, which was disappointing as the game was played in a good hard spirit. by Rosie Meek
