Castle Cary demonstrated a strong start in the first 20 minutes of play, with plenty of possession of the ball, resulting in the hosts taking the lead with Joe Dominey scoring a try from a line-out. This revived Weston, who then started putting width on the ball, and using their big centre they came through the Cary mid-field with ease, exposing the hosts' lack of pace. In the second half Cary made some good attempts to regain control and started to secure the ball more. However, some poor ball handling, and a penalty awarded to Weston following a ruck enabled the visitors to come away as confident winners. Cary hope to compensate for this disappointing start to the season at next week's consecutive league game against Morganians. by Rosie Meek
