 A very warm welcome to you all. We are all looking forward to the 2007–08 season, and hope you'll come down and support our teams. We have two new captains this year: Russell Churchouse takes on the first team and Dave Bifulco takes on the seconds. Please give them your support in any way you can. I'm pleased to tell you that we have two pitches to play on this year, so logistics should be a little easier.
I'm proud to advise you that Castle Cary RFC were runners up in the RFU President's awards in the closed season. Our entry for achievements in Youth Rugby won us a very nice cut glass trophy presented at the County AGM on 31st July — come down and see it! It's good to see that our small rural rugby club can compete and win against the bigger, more affluent clubs, and it's all down to the volunteers who keep our club running. A big thank you from me for giving up your own time and putting so much energy and professionalism into your roles.
Our first annual awards summer ball was held on 12th May, and was a tremendous success with over 120 people attending. A great night was had by all. We'll do it again at the end of next season so don't miss out!
