The hosts were disappointed with having to play uncontested scrums throughout due to Tor's lack of a front row. This hindered Cary, as in previous matches they used the strength of their forwards, using good ball for the backs to run in some effective lines. Without the use of the scrum Cary found it harder to put Tor on the back foot. However, with some good runs from the three-quarters and the wings, the first half saw four tries, courtesy of Jamie Smith (2), Freddie Loxton and Robbie Blackburn. However, it wasn't obvious that Cary would run away with the game until about 60 minutes in when the pack started picking and driving, sucking in the Tor defence to let the three-quarters run in the remainder of the points, with touchdowns from Oli Teacher, Nathan Evans and Peter Rose. Conversions were secured by Blackburn (5) and Ben Snook (2). Cary's Man of the Match was Oli Teacher, marking his debut performance for the firsts, playing flanker and producing some fine tackling and good off-loads. by Rosie Meek
