Cary travelled to this away fixture with only 13 players. A lack of front row players also meant that this fixture was played with uncontested scrums.

With Frome also playing with 13 for the first ten minutes, the teams were evenly matched but the more experienced Frome side opened the scoring just before adding a 14th player. This put Cary under continued pressure and saw the hosts score a couple more tries and conversions.

With around 30 minutes gone, Andy Palmer placed a huge kick behind the Frome back line and put their full-back under massive pressure. Cary were quick to close him down and saw the referee award a penalty try for failing to release the ball. Andy added the conversion and saw the score at half time at 19–7.

Another two Frome players turned up and the second half was played with 15 and 14 players respectively. Cary once again found themselves under immense pressure from the beginning, and saw them conceding a few more tries and the hope of a win slipping away. Once again some excellent refereeing let Cary off giving too many points by some poor handling from Frome.

With dogged determination, Cary continued to fight their way down into the Frome 22 and once again Andy Palmer chipped over their line to see Jim score a well deserved try. Again converted, it added another two points to what was Cary's final score. Another couple of Frome tries finished the game off at 45–14.

Man of the Match went to new player Tim Fahquar for some excellent and persistent breaks making the hard yards for Cary. Although all played well, a few more players had excellent games and deserve a mention: Shane Stone, Ian Hawley and Jim.

This week's Golden Gloves were awarded to Andy Palmer, although it was a close run thing with Steve Armson. Although the initiator of both tries, his kicking for touch from penalties was questioned by the referee for kicking into the wind on most occasions.
