Sunday 15th August saw our annual 'Fun Day'. It is now in its fourth year and every time it seems to get bigger and better — with this one being the best so far. There are two elements to the day. The first is the 'It's a Knockout' competition that is supervised by Gary Powell. It comprises mixed teams competing against each other in games involving water, flour and apples! If you are old enough to remember the television show of the same name, then this is just as enjoyable. For the record, this year's Knockout Champions were 'The Mutants' — a team who have transformed into an incredible force under the guidance of their coach, Martin White. The second part of the day is given to other clubs and societies. For a minimal fee they are able to place a stall at the 'Fun Day' to help with their fund-raising efforts. This year's stalls included face-painting, a tombola and hoop-la. Also present were Castle Cary Fire Service, the town's Majorettes and a display of American cars. In addition, we managed to obtain the services of a children's funfair, complete with roundabout and giant inflatable slide. Also, a barbecue provided refreshments for all. With each year, the 'Fun Day' further becomes an excellent family day out. Personally, I wish to thank Andrew Cole for his assistance this year with the stalls and funfair. Without his help, much of the day's activities would not have been possible. Please visit our Off-the-Field Gallery section for pictures of the day. by Alastair Cook, Social Secretary
