Castle Cary RFC was the destination on 29th February as the Bath Rugby Community team along with first team squad members James Hudson and Gareth Delve delivered the Powergen Community coaching programme to the Mini and Junior sections at the Club. The Club has worked extremely hard to start these youth teams and now has a regular attendance of 60-80 children on Sunday mornings. Bath Rugby's Community Development Manager Jimmy Deane, Powergen Community Officer Simon Rumbles and the players worked alongside the Castle Cary coaches to run through a number of basic drills with the children. The occasion also presented the opportunity for all of the coaches, who are volunteers, to participate in the first RFU coaching award delivered by Nevil Jeffrey, who is the Regional Development Officer for Somerset. After the four age groups had finished their coaching sessions, the children, coaches, mums and dads packed into the Clubhouse to question Bath Rugby stars Hudson and Delve; they also received their certificates. "It was great to see so many children participating in the scheme" said Bath Rugby's Community Officer, Simon Rumbles. "Everyone was really enthusiastic and the Club has a solid platform from which to develop its Mini and Junior section." (See also our Minis' Gallery section for pictures of the visit.)
